Wow! Pretty dumb! The pressure alone could have popped his heart....

Re: Here's a Darwin award candidate for ya...
He obviously needs another round right in the forehead.

Anyone care to pontificate on the type of body armor? or the handgun/ round combination?

If it had pentrated, they were likley using FMJ's cause hed have had his heart and lungs all torn up if it was FMJ hitting where it hit. Soft armor like that is going to hurt no matter what. Your body is still taking the trauma of the force of the bullet, the kevlar is just stopping it from going through. |

The guy who developed the Second Chance soft armor used to give demonstrations where he shot himself in the chest with a .44 Magnum. He would stuff a bunch of padding under the vest first but he was crazy enough to shoot himself. I guess it worked since the police started buying the vests!

The wound that guy had in this video though doesnt appear to look like the "normal" impact wound from a succesfull test lol. But that just my limited experience in the matter. |

There was once this fellow who owned a company which made body armor. One day he was at this gathering of company executives where he was putting on a demo of his body armor for them. He was touting how well it worked for knife attacks as well as projectiles. He had one of his employees do knife thrusts on him. The second thrust penetrated the vest and got him in the heart. Ouch. Bad day for him - he didn't make any sales that day or ever again.

Too bad that the company (including Davis) chose to use Zylon aramid fabric for their vests, then LIED THROUGH THEIR TEETH that it was "peachy keen fine" against ballistic threats. Unfortunately, real world performance didn't quite match up with their lies. A number of people DIED as a direct result of their lies. I wore a SCBA concealed vest on medic duty for nearly 15 years, and recommended their products to a number of friends. I would not trust their products now, whether under the original brand name, or under the "new improved, HONEST....trust us! brand name". Thieving, lying scum need to enjoy the fruits of their labor. A friend of mine, who was a cop, got shot in the chest by a .22 magnum. He was wearing a vest but it knocked him on his ass and knocked him unconcious. He fired every round in his magazine as the car sped away, but he didn't remember a thing that happened.
